Health Fund Rebates
It’s fantastic that yoga and meditation are now recognised in our medical system for its tremendous benefits to health and well-being. So much so, that many leading providers of private health insurance in Australia now include yoga as part of their wellness packages.
We’re delighted to support our yoga students who have private health insurance coverage. Because all of our yoga teachers are registered with Yoga Australia, the peak professional body of yoga in Australia, we are able to support you to claim rebates for your yoga classes and programs.
If you practice yoga and are considering starting or updating your private health insurance, we encourage you to choose a fund that can provide you with rebates for your yoga – why not?! You deserve to reap some extra benefits for your efforts and commitment. Be aware that not all funds recognise yoga.
How to Claim
Yoga Australia publishes a list of health funds who currently provide health fund rebates for yoga classes or programs. Click here to see if your fund provides rebates for yoga, what they cover and what you need to do to claim. You may also need to contact your health fund to see if they have any special receipt requirements. For example, as at November 2014, the HBF Premium Essentials and Ultimate Wellness packages provides members a rebate of $75 per yoga program on a minimum of 8 classes, up to $400 per year. Receipts must show the dates that classes were attended in order to be valid for a rebate.
If your private health fund covers yoga and you’d like to claim rebates, then we’re happy to provide you with a special receipt. Just ask us next time you come to class or phone us on 9330 1988 or email firstname.lastname@example.org during office hours 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Please note that yoga is not able to claimed under Medicare.
