Yin & Yang Yoga Fundamentals Workshop

Whether you are a lover of Yin Yoga or yet to try a class, this two hour workshop is designed to give you a great understanding of the fundamental elements and differences of Yin and Yang Yoga, as well as deepen your awareness of the workings of your body.

Yin Yoga is a holstic approach that seeks to harmonise the yin-yang polarities of ourselves. It is based on the ancient Taoist principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, dating back to 800BC.

Yang Yoga warms, stretches and energises the muscles through repetitve, flowing movements.

Knowing why and how both Yin and Yang Yoga can complement your existing yoga practice, and your life, can yield us greater harmony, health, strength and capacity in both body-mind. 

The Benefits

In this workshop you will:

  • Learn the difference between 'yin' and 'yang' yoga styles;
  • Discover why yin is oftern referred to as functional yoga;
  • Know 'fascia' is and it's importance to yin?
  • Experience 'skeletal variation' and how it impacts your practice;
  • Explore some simple range-of-movements in your body and;
  • Learn a Yang flow sequence that compliments Yin practice.

As well as the theory, you'll get to enjoy a full Yin Yoga class and a Yang flow warm-up sequence, modified to suit your body and to put all your new understandings into practice. The practice involves slow, static floor-based postures and movements, held for periods of time to allow more deeply-held tension to be released.

This workshop is suitable for everyone - beginners, experienced practitioners, both men and women. There are no pre-requisites, except for a curious mind and willingness to explore the body.
