Shivaratri Puja, Chanting & Chai

with Asakti Evans, Branan Silvius and special guest Pandit Sri Subrahmanya Bhat

Sunday 23 February 2020

We invite you to join us for this special Shivaratri celebration of yogic blessings, chanting and community!

In the Vedic tradition, Shiva is considered to be the first of all Yogis and the original yoga teacher.

"Shiva represents the power of silence, stillness and non-doing, the spiritual force that turns things around, draws things within and takes them back to their source, in which a deep unity remains. Shiva symbolises this balancing and calming effect of all Yoga practices." ~ David Frawley, yogic scholar

Maha Shivaratri - the great, divine night of Shiva - reflects and honours the great power that pervades the universe and allows us to ascend in consciousness to self-realisation, to our highest potential.

“The entire universe, animate and inanimate, comes from me. Everything is seen through me. Everything comes to rest in me. I am no different from it and nothing in this world is different from me."  ~ The Shiva Samhita

Ceremony + Chanting + Community

We are delighted to welcome our friend and Hindu Priest, Pandit Sri Subrahmanya Bhat, to offer a special Shivaratri puja - a sacred, traditional Vedic blessing ceremony. This is followed by a beautiful practice of yogic chanting, with sacred sounds and mantras offered in a call-and-response (kirtan) style led by Asakti and Branan. The night concludes with a healthy vegetarian supper - including our delicious homemade chai!

You are invited to join us for any or all parts of the evening.

Mantras are about the universal journey of the human spirit, the nature of the human heart and the beauty that resides in each of us. Chanting is for everyone - it requires no experience or singing ability.

Asakti has been leading kirtan internationally for 30 years. Her engaging presence and beautiful, strong vocals bring deep joy to her audience. Branan is a dedicated Druhpad vocalist, percussionist and teacher of Hindustani Raga music. Listen to Asakti, Branan and the Momentum community chanting
  here.

Come and experience the profoundly blissful, powerful, centring and joyful effects of this combination of ceremony and chanting - and connect with others in our friendly community.
If you already practice yoga or meditation, then this Shivaratri celebration is another dimension of authentic practice and a powerful way to deepen your Self-exploration and inner peace.

We keep it simple and real - there's no frills, but plenty of heart and soul!

The benefits of chanting include:

*  Easing an anxious or troubled mind.
*  Relaxing tension in the body.
*  Opening the heart.
*  Being happy and joyful for no good reason!

*  Feelings of natural love.
*  Deepening of Self-awareness.
*  Promoting healthy emotional expression and release.
