~Foundations in Pranayama ~

Do you wish to deepen your yoga experience? Spend an afternoon delving into pranayama, the fourth limb of yoga, and discover the sacred power of your breath. This workshop is designed for established yoga students with a minimum of one year's consistent asana practice.
In a fun, supportive learning environment, you will learn about the philosophy and mechanics behind pranayama, experiencing for yourself the intricate yet vital link between the breath, nervous system and the mind. As a result of this workshop, you will be able to apply pranayama to your personal yoga practice. Specific learning objectives include to:
~ Understand the relevance and philosophy of pranayama (from the Yoga Sutras, Gheranda
Samhita and Hatha Yoga Pradipika);
~ Understand respiration and the mechanics of breathing; ~ Understand and practice the cleansing technique of kapalabhati; ~ Practice the preparation techniques of: simha mudra; agnisara; jeeva mudra and brahma
mudra; ~ Practice the pranayamas of: anuloma viloma; visama vritti; ujjayi and brahmari and; ~ Understand basic swara yoga techniques and danda use.
Natalie has trained with Rob and Jean at the Yoga Space and has been a student and practitioner of pranayama for over four years. She has studied pranayama intensively with Emil Wendil, Paul Dallaghan and Sri OP Tiwari and is authorised to teach pranayama by the Kailvalyadhama Yoga Institute in India. Natalie has a light-hearted approach to teaching. She is passionate about the power of the breath and helping others to optimise their well-being and realise clarity, stillness and joy through pranayama.

Important Note: Workshop participants should eat only a light meal, not less than two hours prior to the workshop. (Food in the stomach during pranayama is detrimental to the practice.)
