Workplace Coaching
"My coach, I have to say, has changed my life." ~ Gordon Cairns, CEO, Nathan Lion
Managers, Professionals and Business Owners: Are you struggling at work?
It is easy to feel isolated in your role or overwhelmed with responsibilities that there can be little time for real professional growth and personal reflection. Chances are that you have already been through several training courses that (I call these one-hit-wonders because they rarely work!) in your career that seemed great at the time, but that haven't necessarily brought about changes in your people-skills or helped you to feel more confident about yourself or your workload - let alone improve the organisation's triple-bottom-line!
I offer you a highly personalised form of learning that takes into account your unique knowledge base, strengths and needs, as well as the requirements of your position. Taking a holistic approach, we focus on who you are and your self-awareness to bring about the changes and learning you need to move you forward.
What do the experts say about coaching?
The field of professional coaching has emerged from a mix of the psychology, education and sports coaching professions. Coaching's central function is to help people with change and growth, in a modern-day, change-intensive life setting. Its approach is unique, in that it is forward-thinking, action-oriented and solution-focused.
Though a modern-day profession, as stated by Sheila Maher and Suzie Pomerantz in the International Journal of Coaching (2003), coaching pre-dates famous coaches like Anthony Robbins, Stephen Covey, Tom Peters and Ken Blanchard. It is rooted in a range of philosophies and practices that can be traced back to Aristotle, Buddhist thought and Gestalt theory.
Coaching is accepted as one of the most effective forms of personal and professional development available in Australia today, following world-wide trends. The University of Sydney and Perth's Curtin University of Technology now both offer post-graduate qualifications in coaching.
In 2009, Pricewaterhouse Coopers and the Association Resource Centre Inc, on behalf of the International Coach Federation, conducted a significant global study of coaching clients, their decision making processes and their opinions about professional coaching. The study found that:
~ 95% of clients were satisfied with their coaching experience;
~ 96% of clients would repeat the coaching expereince, given the same opportunity;
~ a very good Return on Investment (ROI) is generated by coaching, for clients when
monetary gains are an expected outcome and;
~ the ROI for companies can be significant.
(ICF Global Coaching Client Study Executive Summary, International Coach Federation, April 2009).
In 2007 in an independent study commissioned by the Executive Coaching Institute in Sydney, of 111 coached executives from a range of backgrounds, 92% said they were satisfied or very satisfied with what they had gained from programs of 6-10 sessions. They reported significant increases in their self-awareness, in developing communication skills and improved work organisation and planning. (Australian Human Resources Institute, HR Monthly, April 2007.)
