What You'll Learn

Learning the foundations to practice yoga safely and with integrity is important, especially if you are just beginning. Our Beginner's Yoga Course is structured and builds week-by-week, with set learning objectives.

You'll get a thorough introduction to both Hatha and Vinyasa Flow Yoga - two styles of yoga that complement one-another. Hatha has an emphasis on proper body alignment in postures to balance energy and Vinyasa synchronises postures with the breath to create flow.  

You will learn principles and techniques including:

  • an emphasis on being self-accepting, non-judgmental and non-competitive;
  • breathing fully and deeply; 
  • moving mindfully;
  • how to focus and be present;
  • safe positioning and correct body alignment; 
  • how energy flows;
  • a range of body postures - lying, sitting, balancing, standing and inversions;
  • how to be still and relax. 
We also guide and encourage you to apply what you learn in class into your daily life.

Who Can Attend?

Ideal for men and women who are complete beginners to yoga, our Beginners Yoga Course is also great as a refresher for people returning to yoga after a break or who want to revisit the basics. Places on the course are for adults only (aged 18+ years).  Teenagers from 12-17 years are encouraged to book into our specialised Teen's Yoga Meditation and Mindfulness.

If you are pregnant this course is not appropriate for you. Pregnant women have special needs that cannot be fully addressed in a general beginners course. Please see our specialised Pregnancy Yoga Course.

After the course, students are able to confidently join any of the classes on our daily timetable to continue to develop their yoga practice. Some students may choose to repeat the course, which we also welcome.

Class Times

There's 6 Beginners Yoga Course classes on different days/times to choose from every week. Throughout the course you can prebook the classes you'd like to attend each week (up to 7 days in advance). We suggest you commit to at least one class that you can attend every week, plus any others that you can make.  

Monday        8.00-9.15pm
Tuesday      6.00-7.15pm  
Thursday   4.30-5.45pm    
Friday   5.30-6.45pm    
Saturday 10.45am-12noon      
Sunday     6.30-7.45pm  

You start the course on any day in week 1 - or even week 2, if places remain. If you start in week 2, you pay the same amount and attend classes for just 5 weeks.

Places on our courses are popular and do fill-up, so we encourage you to book as early as you can.
We take a maximum 20 students per class so you receive plenty of personalised attention.
